NCTE Secondary Section: Do WE Make a Difference? – Happiness as a Goal of Education

Every once in awhile, teachers and bloggers post something exciting and refreshing about education. Too many say something terriblly negative and lose the concept of why we do this great work and fight the good fight everyday. This post by Dan Bruno on the NCTE Secondary Education Blog is a great read and very refreshing. After reading several books on education theory and pedagogy he may have actually found one that i fun too read. In addition the page quoted in his article includes a great quote by GK Chesterton. Anybody who quotes GKC must be a great teacher.

Excerpt from Happiness Education. We are truly, “offering something to children that should increase their lifelong happiness…Some things, even in schools, should be offered as gifts – no strings, no tests attached.”
